In your first odd semester, by the time you get used to the institute life you will find yourself working alongside different clubs. In the meantime you will be facing tests, assignments, quizzes and the mighty-end sems. But no need to panic as the time passes so fast that you won’t even realize when your semester is over. When you come back in even sem you will be watching and taking part in the fests of the institute like sports meet, Culfest and Ojass. And if you l like going out you can always visit the beautiful city of Jamshedpur. Some of the major tourist attractions of the city are Jubilee park which was a gift by Tata Steel to the citizens of Jamshedpur on the completion of its 50 years. Dimna Lake is an artificial reservoir and one of the main sources for the city's drinking water. Dalma Hills are north of the Subarnarenkha river, they stretch 16 km from east to west. The other important ones are Tata Steel Zoological Park, Chandil Dam, Rivers Meet, Hudco Lake, Centre for Excellence (CE), Sir Dorabji Tata Park, Moolgaokar Park, Bhuvneswari Temple and others.

Does the mention of the word ragging give you goose-bumps and make you break into a sweat? Ragging, in NIT jamshedpur, is strictly forbidden. You may be ling a little bit overwhelmed at the prospect of living in a hostel without your parents, but, rest assured, you, just like we did, will meet cheerful and helpful seniors at your hostel’s help desk the day you and your parents arrive. They’ll give a few words of advice to you and your parents, the most important of which will be that ragging is, and has always been, a complete no-no in the institute. In case, you face any problem despite these stringent measures, you are welcome to approach the student Vice President, General Secretary – Welfare, your faculty advisor or your warden at any time for advice or assistance.
